    Building muscle with Fighter’s Codex?

    Hey everyone!

I just completed Spartan Trials and I loved it for the strength, muscle building and tone. Now I’m wanting to start the Fighter’s Codex program for the combat workouts, but I want to continue building strength and muscle. Should I do something like the Ironborn program at the same time, but alternate days?

    Thanks!

I feel like you can give Fighter's Codex a few days first to see how it goes. In the meantime do some strength workout once or twice a week to maintain your gains. If Fighter's Codex alone feels too easy or not enough you can add another strength program.

But Darebee doesn't recommend combining two programs except add-ons, so Xpress Tone (add-on dumbbell program) can be a good choice for you. I haven't done it but I guess if you use light dumbbells it can take forever to complete a day, and it actually advises you to use light dumbbells.

Or check out the challenge sections or simply build your own routine around your needs and condition.

kandy Good ideas, thank you! Yes I noticed that same thing with Xpress Tone, sounds like it will take too long with light weights when combined with another program. I may end up building a routine, just not sure about doing that yet. The programs seem so well done. I’ll definitely start fighters codex and see how it goes.

A thing to keep in mind about this is that Fighter's Codex has some days that focuses on strength. These are referred to as Power Days, and they consist exclusively on Push-ups and Squats with ocassional punches and kicks. They can be rather difficult, as the number of reps per set is very high, and they get higher every day. If I recall correctly, there aren't any more Power Days once you pass Endurance Day.
