    In my experience, what makes the most difference is learning to breathe well, I did it with the martial arts that taught me to breathe with the "belly" deeply.
    I too went through the doctors, exams, treatments, etc but in the end any training will improve your breathing skills and if you like to dance then dance, the more you dance the more you will breathe but remember to take the progression calmly, it is a marathon not a sprint

    I used to be quite asthmatic when I was a kid, but I grew out of it. Nonetheless, it didn't seem to affect me, as I used to do karate and swim back in those days. I grew out of it, though.

    The best advice is talk to your physician first. Like Shikari said, asthma is not a lung capacity issue, but an inflamation issue. I don't know what was what triggered mine, but I know it stopped when I moved to another city.

    Just be careful

    I was born with asthma and grew out of it, I do think I still have exercise induced asthma and it limits me massively.
    For years I thought "I need to get more stamina" I should speak to my doctor about it but my last doctor sort of just shrugged at me in a "deal with it" way, also I fear the long term use of an inhaler wouldn't be very good, I don't know what to suggest but please keep safe and try not to over do it

    Hi, Kakarot , I have asthma also. Best advice is talk to your GP first and understand your triggers -- exercise is a common trigger, but so are humidity, allergens, etc -- and get a plan in place. THEN work on increasing your endurance. Asthma is an inflammation issue, not a long capacity issue.

    Asthma

    Hey so I'm a shuffle dancer who suffers from asthma and at the moment can't shuffle more than a few seconds at a time.
    What is the best way to quickly gain lung capacity, HIIT or steady state cardio? I'm not worried about losing weight or what is the best calorie burning exercise I just need my lungs to last longer than 1 minute.
