30 days of gravity - Push ups to failure declining each set

Is it normal for my push ups count to decline drastically each set?

On day 2, 1st set. I managed to do 11 push ups, then decline to 3 and 1 pushups on 2nd and 3rd set. My arms hurt for days.

then now, I'm on day 6 . The back of my arms still hurt a little, and I was able to do only 9 pushups on 1st set, and 3 and 2 pushups again on my 2nd and 3rd sets.

Is this normal the decline of pushup counts? Or am I doing something wrong?

Hi! Intuitively I can see that as normal, since the fatigue kind of adds up throughout the sets. Can anybody concur?

That sounds pretty normal, the numbers and the pain. I did 18,7,2 on day 2 of 30DoG. That looks consistent with your numbers.

Perfectly normal. If the reps don't drop you ain't going to failure or your rest is too long.
it's also good for my humility to grind out only a couple of reps on the final set.
If I want a little more grounding and pain I add a few PU on my knees at the end of final set or a little bonus set.

I think that your rests are around 25 sec between set 1 and set 2 and around 7 sec between set 2 and set 3 (on the basis of the protocl)
Thus, you can have a full recovery and do a number of reps similar to the first set.

The protocol is base on the consideration that not all the reps in a set have to be considered with the same importance. As matter of fact, the reps which are closed to the failure are more important. With small rest, the total number of reps can be smaller and one can have the "same" result doing "few" reps and working less time.
