    Clicking noise in my Elbow

For a few months now I've had a problem in my right elbow where when I go to do pushups there is a clicking/cracking noise that occurs on the eccentric portion of the movement. It's not always there but for the majority of the time that I am completing reps it is present. It also occurs while doing pullups/chinups or dips but not nearly as often. I haven't experienced any pain or major discomfort because of this problem but it is something that I want to fix. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

It is very likely the soft tissues (tendons, ligaments) in your elbow "snapping" back into place. It is not harmful (happens to me all the time with the left elbow).

If you are concerned, you can talk to your doctor or try to get in touch with an orthopedist, as that falls within their wheelhouse.

I had the same exact thing in my left (or maybe it was my right) elbow. Honestly, I don't think there was anything profound I did about it. I adjusted my push-up form a little bit; moving your elbows closer or further from your body might help. For me, they only happened in chin-ups, not pull-ups, so I switched to solely doing pull-ups. You might have to experiment with your arm width in these exercises too. (Neutral pull-ups might help as well).

Now, I don't experience that super irritating clicking in my elbow even when I change my form or start doing chin-ups. I think once I continued developing muscle and my body got better conditioned to the exercise it went away.

However, I'm not a doctor and I didn't get any conclusive evidence as to how to fix it, so it may be different for you. If you have any questions about it @ me and I'll see how I can help!

      Cheers and Good Luck!

I have that, too, in my left elbow. During push-ups, and very extremely during bicep extension, shoulder taps and the like. I don't experience any discomfort, though, so I don't worry much about it and enjoy the avant-garde musical backdrop.

I experience the clicking/cracking in each of my joints - knees, hips, shoulders, elbows not so much, but even wrists, ankles, cervical and lumbar vertebrae. It's not painful, it's just weird. I tried browsing the internet searching for information, but didn't come to any definite answer; the best article seems to be this: https://gmb.io/joint-noises/
Bottom line - generally the noise is not a problem, work on your mobility.
Even though my mobility and overall fitness is definitely better than before the popping didn't stop, but it doesn't worry me anymore...

I also agree with the trying different form/exercises. My elbows will pop when I do skull crushers but don't with any other triceps exercise. While not painful it was slightly annoying so I just don't do skull crushers anymore.

I get the same clicking in my shoulders and elbows all the time and my physiotherapist has told me that as long as it's not painful then I don't need to worry about it.
