    Combining Express Tone

    Hi everyone!
I am currently finishing Total Abs program and going through Gladiator training plan at the same time, and I want to try a strenght-oriented program after Total Abs, probably Spartan Trials or 30 Days of Strenght. At hte same time, there is a program Express Tone with dumbbels, wich is listed as an add-on program, and I would also like to try it out. So, I am wondering, is this a good idea to combine add-on dumbbels program with strenght-oriented program like 30 Days of Strenght, or is it only meant as an add-on to combat or HIIT programs?

SFish There would not necessarily be a problem with it. Express Tone Relies a fair bit on working to muscle failure, and if your muscles are already tired from something else, then you are not going to get as much out of it. Also Express Tone is relatively time consuming, so if you are combining it then prepare for a decent amount of time.

As for all that strength training, that is all that some people do, and they spend hours in the gym doing it. It is fine, just don't overwork yourself to the point of injury.

I did 30DoS recently and I am doing XPT right now. I would rather do 30DoS on an higher/est level before combining it with XPT.

Why? Cause I think 30DoS is well designed and you get good benefits from it...if you give your best...

And more important... the days do not fit together very well.
      30DoS: legs/pull/push/tendons-stretch
      XPT: push-pull/legs/push-pull/legs-light
If you do 30DoS in an intense way, you probably do not get enough rest.

About the length of XPT, use bigger weights, that would shorten the days...

...BUT in general, you could combine the two programs.

In my experience one of the two programs would be affected, in a certain sense you go to remove strength from one of the two workouts because they do the same job even if in different ways.
It works best if you combine different programs, as you said too: cardio-HIIT or combat with a strenght program.
Remember it's just my experience, I've tried it and it doesn't work well for me

As CaptainCanuck said, XpressTone is quite time consuming, even if you increase the weights. I found that most days I was spending about 30 minutes on that programme alone, and very occasionally, towards the end, even longer. Personally, I wouldn't use it as an add-on for that reason and because most of the exercises are to fatigue. That means that if you did this programme first, your next programme would probably suffer; and if you did it second, you wouldn't be able to do it to a great degree. Unless, of course, you had a significant length of time in the day between programmes.

Thank you, CaptainCanuck HellYeah TopNotch and Fremen ! I think I am going to stick to the 30 Days of Strength, and maybe some general fitness or cardio add-on, and leave th Express Tone for the better times
