Guys I need some suggestions, please

Hello guys. I hope you all are well. I love this site. So I want to thank everyone involved in this activity, guys you are doing a great job.
Now, I would like some help from the people with more experience. I like to run, I run 4 days a week. But I would like to ad some programs to my routine for abs and upper body. That's the part of my body which is kinda thin. I'm not really sure which programs would be a better choice and how exactly to combine them with my running. I would really appreciate your suggestions. Thank you in advance.

    Welcome to the HIVE!

Depending on your fitness level, you can try Core Strength or maybe Total Abs. Yup, you can follow the program as is with your running.

For upper body specific work, I'd probably do an upper body workout. Use the filter on the right to adjust for your fitness level and equipment. I'd place these workouts in between your running days. But you'd have to decide if you're willing to train 7 days a week or not. Alternatively, you can place it before you run or even after you run. This will be personal preference on your part. Give each a go and see what you like. I'd say you'd want to conduct this 3-4 times a week.

As you can see, 4 days running and 4 days strength is more than a week's time. You can prioritize one over the other in a given week, say 3 days running and 2 day strength; or perhaps you can alternate between the 2 throughout the week making one week running focused and the other strength focused.

While I'm not currently running to reduce my time outside currently (I already need to walk my dog twice a day and I'd rather not increase my chances any further than that), in the past I have combined running with Total Abs. I'm assuming Core Strength would also likely help you out as well. You could follow either program with your running. Currently, I'm combining Core Strength with the program Cardio Go!, which does work as something of a running substitute.

You could also consider incorporating programs like Cardio Trim Run or 30 Days of Change, which combine running roughly 3 to 4 days a week with doing other calisthenics exercises that include not just abs, but also upper body strength days. Hell, you could pick an abs add on program (like Total Abs), set four a days a week you run, and then pick upper body strength focused workouts from here (or another resource) for the days you don't run (just figure out how many rest days you want a week, if you decide to take any that aren't just sporadic). I even set up a link for the workout filter from here (I also selected no equipment, you can easily swap that tab in case you have some at home or want to use some).

It's really up to you on what cocktail you think would work best for you, though, and I wish you luck in figuring it out!

Caius and ArtBoyo, thank you very much for your suggestions. I was thinking about something like doing the Core Strength program and the daily dare on the running days, and the Total Abs program, upper body workout and daily dare the days I'm not running. I'm wondering if it would be a good idea though. I only want a rest day, on Sundays. Thank you so much for replying to me

HI Claudia and welcome to the Hive.
What about mixing in a couple of pushups or burpees, when doing your run?. Eg. you are running 4 km. So do 10 pushups every km, you do 30 pushups/run. 40, if you are serious and do 10 before you start running.
So that gives you 160 pushups/week, within your routine timeframe. That should show some results.
              All the best

Andi64 that's a really good idea, I like it and I will totally apply it, I wish I would have seen your suggestion a little earlier when I did my run haha. But next time I will do it. Thank you very much for writing me.
