    Hey Bluejay_Doe
Here some ideas, coming from my own experience:
To tone up and slim down, you have to find a good combination of exercise and calorie intake. Where nutrition is still the mightier tool.

As you are new to working out /exercises, you should find sth. that you can do consistently, no matter what it is as long as you keep moving. You can deal with your other goals after you built a habit.

First step in nutrition could be: cut unhealthy things you eat or drink one after the other.

Be patient, results will show up, but they don't come over night.

    Bluejay_Doe welcome to the Hive.

One of the best forms of exercise to lose weight and improve your cardiovascular efficiency is simply walking. You can tailor the pace to your fitness level and add challenges like medium to steep hills. Strive to get to a 4-5 mph (6.5 - 8 Kph) pace for 30 minutes daily. I lost 50 lbs. in 8 months by, primarily, walking every day for 30 minutes. Started at a 25 minute mile and worked up to 12 minute mile in about 4 months.

Most of the Darebee programs fulfill the cardio and strength elements by doing the exercises back to back with rest at the end of each set. I would suggest the Foundation, Zero Hero or 30 Days of Cardio Blast program to get started with. Those programs will get you in the DAILY exercise habit and are geared toward anyone that have not exercised in a long while.

Sorry for not posting links to the mentioned programs. Luddite here. However, if you go to the upper right corner and click menu you can get to the exercise programs.

Good luck and keep posting! Get community here to help with your motivation.

Weight loss is mainly a nutrition game, changing what goes in.
If you aren't in the habit of working out a program is a great place to start.
You can use the fitness test to help you choose.
Focusing on gradual change is a great approach. Take small steps and don't beat yourself up over stumbles.
Welcome and good luck in your endeavours!

HIIT might be the best solution, but you would be better off focusing on nutrition first before worrying about what exercise to do.

If as you say that you are a fair bit overweight, you might also want to try swimming. It is low impact and burns lots of calories while also building decent muscles.

Best workout plan for toning and weight loss?

Hey there I'm new to working out and am a fair bit over weight. I want to take this slow so I don't get any saggy skin but I was just wondering; what is the best workout plan that combines cardio and strength training? And would this combo help me lose weight and tone up at the same time?

If so how much of each should I do? How many days cardio and how many strength based?

I really am a noob so any help you could provide would be much appreciated! Thank you 🙂
