    Back Injury

So about a year ago, I was sprinting with a weight sled attached to my back and ended up pulling my right lat muscle. It took about 5 weeks to heal and I started working out with weights again. This year about a month ago I was performing a variation of the lat pulldown and I pulled the exact same muscle. This time it took about 3 weeks to heal and I've started lifting weights again. Is there anything I can do to prevent another lat injury? Im nervous i'm gonna pull it again and track is about a week away.

I would suggest that whatever rehab exercises you did to recover from your initial injury you keep doing. We have a tendency to think we are "healed" once an injury stops hurting--but the truth is you likely still have some weakness in that area. Also: take special care to ensure you warm up your back muscles properly before any more intensive workout.

Did you speak with a sports injury specialist following either of your injuries? A repetitive injury can be the result of a muscle/flexibility imbalance or other cause of poor body mechanics. It's worth being assessed by someone with kinesiology expertise to find out if there's something funky going on you're not aware of.
