Update Question: Good and Bad Changes

So it is currently my 6th week in my journey to build muscle. I'm seeing rapid changes but there's some changes I dislike. For one, my stomach has gotten bigger, a small layer of fat has appeared. I don't know if this is normal since before my comparison was a stomach that lay flat to my hips with hip bones clearly visible. Is it normal for me to look like this or is it a sign that I need to change up my diet and eat less? Should I just look to be gaining weight at this point in time and cut down later to show off more definition? Or should I start worrying about it now?

Answers to any of these questions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Atlas_FTW It is hard to say with any certainty, but as your core muscles get stronger, they can also build some bulk. You may be decreasing your body fat while building muscle.

It is hard to say about your diet if we don't know what that is ... if you are consistently below your daily caloric intake then you should be all right for weight gain.

Fitness is a long term game though. Weight can fluctuate for weird reasons, I personally worry more about ability and health.

You sure that's fat? Maybe you are gaining abdominal muscles but not getting rid of the fat, so the belly looks more bulk.

I had thought of this as well. If there was a tiny layer of fat on your belly beforehand, developing abdominal muscles (that get bigger themselves) can push out that layer and make your stomach look more "fat".
