Power Up - Side Leg Hold

I can't do it? I can do tons of side leg raises, but I can't keep the leg up there for 30 seconds (not even when I'm cheating and holding it up with my arm) Why is that? And how can I improve it?

Start by keeping your leg low and raise it slowly when you get better.
In that exercise I kept it more or less at the height of a knee kick, so more or less half a meter from the ground or even less.

That could work. Because I usually raise mine hip-height!

I also have a hard time raising my leg side ways (and keeping it up). It is a combination of strength and balance where I have to practice more. In away it can be a bit frustrating that you can't do it initially but having a weak point gives also a trainings goal.

Initially I cheated by moving my upperbody side ways but this is not correct.

I found out that a straight posture and lower height is better to improve in the long run.

You can also lay on the ground side ways and move your leg up. This is easier but also benificial.

I've noticed balanced has something to do with it. My right side balance is better than left, and I can hold that leg up much longer.

Sounds like I should work on posture too!

When swinging your leg you basically create a lot of force in the beginning to "shoot" your leg up but then let it travel with that momentum, you're not actively and constantly using your muscles throughout the entire motion.
Holding the leg up forces your muscles to stay engaged in that position for the entire time, so it's a different scenario which is not directly comparable.

It's totally normal that it's more difficult to hold that position. Work your way up there by starting in a lower Position. Once your muscles and tendons develop more strength and flexilibility you'll be able to hold your leg up higher and longer
