    starfish ab exercise / full body stretch on mat

    Hi,

    would someone be able to explain the following or at least guide me towards some sort of an explanation: so whenever i lie flat on yoga mat and reach away with my hands and legs to get a complete stretch, my lowerback arches a lot and rises up above the ground despite having my ribs pushed down towards the belly and my core tight. Due to this reason i am unable to perform exercises like the starfish for abs. I'm wondering whether this could be due to bad lower back flexibility or mobility? how would i counter this?
