    Exercise for back pain?

I am a small female and I experience a lot of back pain, due to the amount of stuff I have to carry. I thought that, after carrying this stuff around for long enough, my body would get stronger and adjust. So far, all I'm doing is hurting my back. It's only gotten a little better. Carrying less is not an option very often for me.
Are there some exercises that can strengthen my back muscles? Are there stretches I should be doing?

Hi! Darebee, as usual, has you covered. There are specific workouts for back pain and the lower back, and with Back & Core there's a whole program that will likely help you. Personally, when I started getting back pains due to my pregnancy and at the same time carrying around my daughter a little too much, I decided to redo Ironborn and it helped. It's not a specifically back-focused program, but I figured that increasing my overall strength would halp. It can be adjusted to pretty much any fitness level by using lighter or heavier weights.

Change the carrying position. If you’re wearing a backpack, then wear it on the front. Carrying that stuff IS a workout, so you need to stretch and soak in a hot tub. And you need to rest. Yoga might be a good idea, but I would be wary of additional back exercises. Your back might be overworked as it is.
