Is there a good exercise program for broken ankle?

I was doing Hero's Journey and yesterday was on Day 14. Unfortunately, that evening I broke both of my ankles. It will take 6-12 weeks to recover both. Is there a good workout program or any suggestions to exercise the rest of my body without using or being on my feet?

Go here, then filter for upper body or abs. Most of the standing exercises could probably be modified to sitting or laying down.

asulmata ouch, that sounds really bad!

wjs jas a good suggestion. You do need to keep your legs moving though... which is going to be difficult given that most classic leg exercises tend to have you driving through your feet and ankles...

      Hope your recovery goes well!!

EDIT: To add to his previous post, there is also a filter on the link wjs provided for pain relief/rehab - you may find some exercises there helpful too.

Thanks both of you. I think I'll do the Man Down workout for as long as I'm in hospital then the Total Abs program when I get home, using my knees instead of feet for press ups and planks.

If you're considering doing stuff on your knees then maybe traditional glutes exercises will strike your fancy. Donkey kicks, leg extensions, side leg extensions.
If you are looking for high burn cardio you could try some abs cardio with knee-to-elbow crunches.

Thanks everyone. I'm following the Total Abs program, with adjustments or alternatives where necessary. I'm looking forward to getting back into the RPG workouts after recovery.

You could also look at the Office workout filters. Even seated there is still leg movement. Maybe google/youtube seated workouts. Sending out healing vibes.Remember taking it easier on your body in general will help with better healing later.
