February 2 Nature Nugget: White-tailed Deer

I did not see any groundhogs on this day, but these white-tailed deer certainly did not see any shadows under the thick cloud cover we had Saturday evening. Deer are pretty common in my area and often easier to spot in the winter. Still, they are so majestic. It is always a treat to see one, and I was treated to six all grazing together near the road on my way out of Rondeau yesterday.

After the deep freeze we had here last week--there were 2 days on which I did not even walk my dogs in town, it was so cold--I was very happy to be able to get my nature fix on Saturday with a hike in Rondeau.

Great pictures! I'm glad for you to be treated to such beautiful scenery so regularly.

Is there another animal in the first and fourth deer pictures, on the tree? And what is it? It looks cute.
