    The Hive

    Hello Damer neilarey!

First of all my compliments on your wonderful website, that I first discovered only a month ago.

I wanted to ask you though about The Hive disappearing from the top right side of the homepage, and moving to the bottom. I understand of course that it is important to give the donate button a prominent spot, but it seems strange to do that at the expense of The Hive? For me, having just started, it has been a very nice place and it is a button I click quite often. Also, people that are new to the website are now not likely to find the Hive.

Would you not consider bringing it back to a more prominent spot?

Otherwise, keep up the good work with what you're doing, I like it!

Montserrat thank you for your message. Like most things we do with Darebee this change too has been based on numerous suggestions we've received and have been considering for some time. The Hive is a community which, as yourself has discovered, offers connection, support, information and encouragement. It's impossible to get all that across having it as a link on the menu bar of the site which is why it has been moved in the more self-explanatory section of "Support & Community" which allows to open up its many activities through individual links.

I understand that every change we make, however useful and meaningful, gets us out of our comfort zone. This applies not just to you but also many of our team who were used to clicking on the link to log into The Hive. Like every change we make this too is also under appraisal. If we feel it's not delivering what we expected we shall, of course, reverse it. I hope this helps explain some of our reasoning.

I'm not sure putting the Hive on the lower part of the Hive is a good choice. From browsing older threads in the Hive, it seems most people don't even scroll so far down and miss all of that content. Not only that, people today don't spend much time on a website they aren't already invested in. Reading text at the bottom when there's already pictures and big buttons on the top registers as uninteresting. The case gets worse when you narrow the browser window to minimum, of which I guess would be what someone using the internet on a phone would see. The Hive is somewhere burrowed all the way down, after all those "uninteresting" things like "about the project" "how are we supported "copyright" and "donations".
I wonder what kind of suggestions you receive. "Please put the Hive somewhere people won't notice, we already have enough people?". That sounds a bit snarky on my part. If you want to keep the Donate button on top, I'd rather see the Collections be traded against the Hive and moved down.
Btw, I think the Support & Community column is kind of a mess with the title being weirdly torn up by the ampersand, leading the column to be much longer than the other two and tearing the layout apart.
Not only that, on other websites, the most uninterested stuff usual is on the bottom right. I just now saw that the event weeks, news and announcements were moved there, too.
Please reconsider that kind of arrangement. I think it doesn't work in your favour.

If you do end up changing the Hive back to the top is there a way to still make the top of the Homepage look nice with either the Hive or Donate near the Darebee Logo? that way you dont loose a high visibile spot for donating but at the same time keeping the masses happy? i dont mind it being on the bottom personally I tend to open Hive into another tab that way i can look up the work outs and stuff that either I or someone else has issues with as I reply so i can make sure I am explaining my theory or am refreshing on the excersise easier

If you place a 'Hive Button' with the Social Media list in the footer, that would be helpful. It's not entirely wrong (because it's your/or even our major contribution to socialising online) and helps finding the Hive if you have to search for it. We need some easy-clicking, icony thingy.

Damer Please don't get the impression that I'm trying to tell you what to do. I am sure any changes are considered very carefully.

Actually it might be a pretty good idea to strengthen the Support & Community section by gathering all community-related links there. I do however still feel that the Hive should somehow be more prominently visible. It deserves that. To me it doesn't matter so much whether that would be at the top or the bottom of the page. It just lacks the extra emphasis now.

Other than that, it is not something that I am particularly stressed about. So by all means, if you think this is best, that's fine with me too. Just thought I'd give my feedback on this matter, since I noticed some other people had also commented on the change.

I just realised, my complaint about the Support & Community column being a mess because of the ampersand seems to be a personal issue with my browser. It looks like this in my go-to browser (Firefox) but not in Chromium. Might be because of some settings, idk.
If it looks good for other Firefox users, it's a problem on my end. In that case, apologies for complaining about this.
