Stand with your feet a little wider than hip-width and bring your hands up in front of your chest, elbows out. Rotate your torso to one side as far as it comfortably goes, letting your head travel with it, then rotate all the way across to the other side. Keep your hips pointing forward so the turn happens in your waist, not your legs. Let the rhythm stay easy - this is your spine's version of wringing out a towel, gently.
Works: obliques, abs, lower back
Breathing: Exhale as you twist to each side, inhale as you pass through center.
Common Mistakes: Letting the hips and knees swivel along with the torso, whipping side to side with momentum instead of turning with control, and holding the breath instead of letting it flow with the rhythm.
Make Easier: Do them seated with your feet flat on the floor, or shorten the rotation to a comfortable range.
Make Harder: Pause for a 2-count at the end of each turn, add Side Bends to work the waist in the other plane, or load the rotation with Sitting Twists.
