Take a fighting stance - one foot forward, fists up in guard, chin tucked. Snap your lead hand straight out in a jab, shoulder rolling up to cover your chin, and pull it straight back to guard. Then fire the cross: your rear hand drives straight out as your back foot pivots and your hips rotate behind it. Jab, cross, reset - the jab is speed, the cross is your bodyweight arriving, and both hands snap home to guard the instant they land.
Works: shoulders, chest, triceps, core
Breathing: Sharp exhale with each punch - two short bursts per combination, inhale on the reset.
Common Mistakes: Dropping the hand low before punching and telegraphing it, throwing the cross with the arm alone and no hip rotation, and leaving the punches hanging out instead of snapping back to guard.
Make Easier: Slow both punches right down and groove the path - out straight, back straight - adding speed only once the shape is automatic.
Make Harder: Drive the pace and rotation, sinking slightly into your stance with each combination, or expand your arsenal with Hooks or Uppercut.
