Take a fighting stance with your fists up in guard. Bend one arm to roughly 90 degrees, raise the elbow to shoulder height, and swing the fist horizontally across your body - pivoting on the same-side foot and rotating your hips into the punch, as though your whole side turns behind it. Snap back to guard and hook with the other hand. The arm holds its shape; the power comes from the pivot.
Works: shoulders, chest, obliques, core
Breathing: Sharp exhale with every hook, inhale as you return to guard.
Common Mistakes: Throwing a wide swinging slap with a straightening arm, punching with the arm alone while the hips stay square, and dropping the other hand from guard mid-punch.
Make Easier: Slow the punches down and shrink the rotation until the pivot feels natural, then build speed back in.
Make Harder: Drive the pace up and sit into a slight squat between punches, or mix them into combinations with Punches (Jab + Cross) or Uppercut.
