Backfists - What it Works
Focus: Upperbody
Type: Combat
Difficulty: level 1 of 5

Take a fighting stance, one foot slightly ahead of the other, fists up in guard. Snap the back of your lead fist out in a fast horizontal arc, leading with the knuckles, arm extending toward your target - then pull it back to guard just as quickly. The power comes from the snap, not a push: strike out, whip back, and keep your other hand up protecting your chin throughout.

Works: shoulders, upper back, arms, core

Breathing: Sharp exhale with every strike, inhale as the fist returns to guard.

Common Mistakes: Winding the arm back before striking and telegraphing the move, snapping the elbow into a hard lockout at full extension, and letting the non-striking hand drop out of guard.

Make Easier: Slow the strike down and shorten the range until the movement feels natural, then add speed back gradually.

Make Harder: Add a small pivot through the hips behind each strike and pick up the pace, or move on to Hooks or Elbow Strikes.

I love the pictures, the variety, the amount of time it takes to complete a workout and how you can mix and match if you have a lot of energy or only repeat 3 times if you don’t feel like exercising. The website is awesome and I recommend it whenever I talk about fitness with other people. I cannot thank Darebee enough for how much this project has helped me in having a solid exercise routine and how to deal with exercise when tired, injured or when I don’t have much time.

I also love the concept of "exercise of the day". This website is just awesome. I came to know this website around 2025 since than it has been bookmarked in my browser. I request the developers to please launch the mobile app. I would absolutely love to see it's app on the app Store.
