Stand with your feet wider than shoulder-width apart and extend both arms out to one side, hands together at shoulder height. Draw the far arm back across your chest, elbow leading, opening your arms out until they form one straight line - like drawing a bow - and turn your head to follow the pull. Sweep both arms back together to the other side and repeat the draw there, alternating in a smooth, continuous flow.
Works: shoulders, upper back, chest, arms
Breathing: Exhale on each draw as the arms open, inhale as they sweep back together.
Common Mistakes: Shrugging the shoulders up toward the ears, letting the arms sag below shoulder height as fatigue sets in, and swinging the arms without squeezing the shoulder blades together at full draw.
Make Easier: Slow the tempo down and shorten the range - draw only as far back as you can without the shoulders creeping up.
Make Harder: Pause at full draw and squeeze between the shoulder blades for a count, pick up the pace, or move on to Chest Expansions or Scissors (Arms).
